Sports
Sports are a big part of America. They touch almost every aspect of society. Sports involve governments, TV and radio networks; they engage magazine and newspaper publishers, physicians, scientists, lawyers, agents, investors, fans, parents, students, athletes and alumni. Sports have their own section in the daily newspaper and their own time slot on daily television newscasts. While there is a wide range of professional sports, mentioned below are a few sports played in America today.

A breakdown of each major sport and the local affiliated teams follows.
Basketball
Basketball is generally played from September to June. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the regulatory commission in the United States and Canada.
Hockey
Hockey commonly referred to as ‘Ice-Hockey’ is played professionally from September to June. The NHL or the National Hockey League is the governing body for this sport in the United States and Canada.
American Football
American Football is professionally played from September to January. The NFL or the National Football League is the governing body for this sport. There is no official Football team for NJ however two New York teams, the New York Giants and the New York Jets play at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey.
Baseball
This sport is considered the national pastime in the United States. Played from April to October, this sport is governed by the MLB or Major League Baseball comission.
Soccer
